WEINER ELEMENTARY PRESENTS
"Brundibar" was performed many times in the Terezin concentration camp during the Holocaust.
SYNOPSIS OF OUR PERFORMANCE
Act 1: “Music Inside Him” is an original “imagining” of a little girl, a doll, and a special man who knew the value of music to where they were going--Terezin.
Act 2: “Living Underwater” (based on recollections of survivors in the book, “The Girls in Room 28”) shows life inside the girls’ dorm and the rich cultural world created for and by children in that horrific time.
Act 3: “BRUNDIBAR” --performed as it was in Terezin with Krasa’s original music and Hoffmeister’s lyrics (but in English). The set and costumes for this Act mesh the original Terezin set with our concept --this act is colorful.
The ending is poignant and something you will never forget.
