FACE 1 - Ben Brucker: SUPERHERO POST-IT MURAL - Our office environment at The Shop Agency did not reflect our collaborative creative culture, so I decided to give it a refresh. I needed a temporary, inexpensive solution that would bring life and inspiration to our space. I settled on Post-It notes to cover our walls with a large custom mural. After discussing with my creative director, we decided that superheroes were a perfect theme. I designed 7 character panels that are bold, iconic, and unique. These playful 8-bit designs consisted of 8,000+ Post-Its. I rallied my creative team and together we put them up over a weekend. The process helped build team camaraderie, and our new environment boosted morale for the whole building. When I shared the story online it became hugely popular. Good Morning America, Gizmodo, Buzzfeed, MTV, and various other news agencies published articles about the mural. It was tweeted and shared by millions, and within a few days, news of the project spread across the entire world. The artwork was reproduced countless times as others were inspired to transform their own spaces. Ben Brucker,. (2015). Work. CREATIVE THINKING SKILL: "PUT TO OTHER USES" --taking something that is meant to be used one particular way and using it in an entirely different way.
Like "Star Wars" better? Look at this!
FACE 2 - Studio Drift: Studio Drift is a group of craft artists whose creations are the result of art inspired by nature. The light sculptures by Studio Drift are part of many museum and private collections all over the world. Now the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam has enriched its collection with five performative light sculptures; it is again another renowned venue in which Studio Drift is permanently represented. Five flower-like sections perform a mechanical ballet of opening and closing. In this light sculpture Studio Drift combines nature's changing movement with advanced robot and light technology. The "petals" are made of many layers of organic silk. In turn they unfold in all their glory only to retreat timidly, like flowers closing up at night.
CREATIVE THINKING SKILL: Associate - pair up; relate one thing to another; form a mental connection between things. This gets ideas flowing and sparks new ideas that help us get past a creative block. STUDIO DRIFT associated nature with art!
FACE 3 - Tanya Schultz - Australian artist Tanya Schultz works as Pip & Pop to create huge installations and artworks from a wide range of materials including sugar, glitter, candy, plastic flowers, everyday craft materials and all sorts of objects she finds on her travels. She works both alone and with others on her projects and also installs her creations. Her projects are often ephemeral; that means they don't last. Tanya is fascinated with ideas of paradise and wishes being granted as described in fairy tales and mythology. She has exhibited her work throughout Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Germany, Netherlands and the UK. adapted from... pip & poppip & pop ,. (2015). pip & pop . CREATIVE THINKING SKILL: "Put to other uses" --painting with candy instead of paint! How sweet?
...it may not be candy, but look what you can do with round stickers!
FACE 4 - HiBot: HiBot is a robotic design firm in Japan that solves problems using robotics. Often the things we need to accomplish are physically impossible. For instance, plumbers are unable to check what is causing leaks or stoppage when the pipes are underground. There simply is no way for them to see what is causing the problem. Enter the designers at HiBot, who devised a robotic solution. THESBOT was developed in order to move inside small pipes, equipped with cameras that acquire detailed images, allowing a level of inspection that was not possible until now. It can pull specific sensors inside the pipes based on the type of inspection that is needed and is able to maneuver around turns and angles allowing it to travel through elbow pipe and T-joint pipe as well. The design is so efficient and was so needed, the company won the 2015 Edison Award.
CREATIVE THINKING SKILL: INVENT If you see a situation that causes problems? Think of a solution and invent something to make your solution happen!
FACE 5 - Olivia Muus "Selfies": This is a project that Olivia Muus started when she and her friend friend went to the National Gallery of Denmark in Copenhagen. She took a picture for fun and liked how this simple thing could change the character of the person or people in the painting, giving their facial expression a whole new meaning. She started the Museum of Selfies and takes submissions from everyone, selecting the most interesting and posting them to the website.

CREATIVE THINKING SKILL: Elaborate - add details; make something new by adding on to something already created.
