CREATIVITY QUOTE: “What an immense impression Paris made upon me. It is the most extraordinary place in the world!” (Charles Dickens)
Creativity finds inspiration in special places--everywhere from Paris to the desk in your favorite class at school.
It’s no wonder that the who’s who of artists visited Paris, and many chose to stay and live there – Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, and Monet to name only a few --and even writers found inspiration living in Paris ...Charles Dickens, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Ernest Hemingway, to name a few. Paris makes you want to do the seemingly impossible. Even Benjamin Franklin chose to live there several years because he was so taken with the energy of the city. Walking the streets of Paris you see artists in places you wouldn’t imagine, on streets and garden paths, even along the river. They aren’t trying to sell their paintings or seeking an audience, they are just there doing what they do simply for the sake of creating.
David McCullough discusses why so many talented Americans chose to live in Paris to develop their talents.
Day 2: the ARTISTS of Paris
Creativity Quote: "Creativity flourishes, grows, swells, multiplies, renews, and explodes when you are around other creative people."
Many well known artists were born in Paris or worked in Paris. Paris was a gathering place for artists as they tried new techniques --especially for the Impressionists. Many of them lived in the area of Paris called Montmartre which was at the top of a large hill in Paris. Today Montmartre is still a gathering place for artists. Here are a few of the Impressionist artists who lived and worked in Paris. Rousseau, Pissaro, Manet, Degas, Cezanne, Monet, Renoir, Gauguin, van Gogh, Seurat.

DAY 3: PARIS FASHION DESIGNERS!
The fashion designers of Paris. Paris is the fashion capitol of the world. The French were the first to make an industry out of fashion, not just dress-making, and they have been exporting their style since the 17th century which is frankly before most of the world had even realized what fashion was. Paris Fashion week finds the crème de la crème of the fashion world flocking to Paris to see what they will be wearing next season. Here are so designs by these well known Paris designers. Day 4 : Parisienne Cuisine! French food has an outstanding reputation and with good reason. Dining in Paris is a wonderful experience. The Parisiennes have the utmost respect for their food, matching suitable flavours and accompanying meals with just the right wine. Parisienne waiters also take great pride in their work, making eating an experience rather than simply a fuel stop. From fancy restaurants to sidewalk cafes to fabulous food markets, to the famous seafood platters, Paris has it all! Parisiennes love to buy a good bottle of wine, a baguette, and several of the excellent French cheeses and head to one of the beautiful parks along the Seine for a picnic!
Creativity Quote: In Paris, cooking is an art form --creativity brings specialness to even the most ordinary things.
Day 5 - the Bridges of Paris: Paris is famous for its bridges that cross over the River Seine, helping people get from one side of Paris to the other. So many bridges! …And each different --no two the same. This not only adds to the beauty of the city, but helps people not to cross the wrong bridge. The bridges have a rich history, and each has its own story. Perhaps the most unusual bridge is the one by Notre Dame cathedral which is covered in padlocks. Sweethearts flock to the bridge, write their names on the padlock and attach it to the thousands already there.
Creativity Quote: Why make everything look the same?
