DAY 1: GOOGLE MAPS --MORE THAN MAPS! CREATIVITY OVERLOAD!!! Technology provides many experiences that literally blow your mind because they are so amazing! The many things that Google Maps can do is certainly one of those experiences. You can walk down a busy street in New York City or along a canal in Amsterdam --all from your computer.
Google Sightseeing lets you see the sights of the world without leaving your desk. The website is a blog that is updated regularly with places you should visit using Google Maps. Let's take a look!
CREATIVE THINKING SKILL: TRAVEL Visiting new and very different places helps you to be more creative.
DAY 2: Google World Wonders Project The World Wonders Project uses Google's StreetView function to allow users to virtually explore a wide range of sites worldwide, including Kew Gardens and Stonehenge in the UK and the ancient Kyoto temples in Japan. As well as StreetView style mapping, the World Wonders project also includes 3D models, pictures and YouTube videos of the sites to give users a variety of ways to explore.
CREATIVE THINKING SKILL: FIND A WAY Filming the location of the "Wonders Project" required finding a way to move around, finding the technology that would work, and finding a way to bring it to you!
DAY 3: Google Street View of the OCEAN! - Google wants to draw attention to the preservation of the underwater kingdoms. "Each image in Google Maps is a GPS-located digital record of these underwater and coastal environments, which can be used as a baseline to monitor change over time. This comprehensive record of coral reefs showcases the beauty of these ecosystems and highlights the threats they face." Google's Street View cameras have captured plenty of underwater creatures alongside the stunning backdrops. As on land, you can move around underwater in some locations, following the arrows to swim along.
CREATIVE THINKING SKILL: FLEXIBILITY Google doesn't just take us to other countries --it shows us the world found in the ocean.
DAY 4: Google Moon/ Google Mars - Google Moon is a service similar to Google Earth that shows satellite images of the Moon. It was launched by Google on July 20, 2009, the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing. The landing site of each of the Apollo missions is shown on the satellite image, providing more information on each mission as the user zooms in. Google Mars does the same thing as Google Moon. You can explore the planet. Google Mars has many cool features --there is even a real, pretend martian that will take you on a tour!
CREATIVE THINKING SKILL: THE SKY'S THE LIMIT--OR IS IT? Creativity never sees boundaries where it can't go...
DAY 5: GOOGLE EARTH OFFICIAL YOUTUBE CHANNEL Google has its own YouTube Channel which can be accessed by anyone. It has many videos that take you all around the world. You can view everything from videos of Rome in 3D and looking over Olympic sites. This channel is constantly being added to. It is perfect for those who want to visit the world without navigating the maps. What way would you want to use Google Earth?
CREATIVE THINKING SKILL: THE POWER OF CHOICE Creativity knows that people value having choices --why come up with one idea when there are many possibilities?
